CNRO has been being led by Ph.D Heang Rithy, he is an active person of human rights
and democracy protection in Cambodia.

It is note-worthy to point out that he is an outspoken and strong legal advocacy for
rule of law in Cambodia

The Cambodian National Research Organization. Accronym is ( CNRO ) was established on January 10th 2001 and to be listed to the Ministry of Interior on March 1 st 2001. CNRO is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-partisan organization; it is a human rights organization. Its goal focuses on the application with respect for rule of law, human rights, and principle democracy in Cambodia. CNRO was born out of a group of concerned and dedicated citizens, who have experiences in the first hand of law. It's staffs are determined to do something such as pushing to have good governance, eradicating corruption, respect for rule of law, human rights and democracy principle.
On February 2nd , 2006 Dr. Heang Rithy and his colleagues had an audience with his royal majesty Prahbat Norodom Sihamony in order to request his intervention to the Royal Government of Kingdom of Cambodia to drop charge Excellency Sam Raingsy, president of Sam Raingsy Party, Excellency Cheam Channy parliamentarian, Excellency Dr. Say Bory, Excellency Chea Poch, Prince Sisovat Thammekor; Mr. Cheam Mony, president of Cambodian Free Union Worker, Mr. Yeng Virak, president of Community Legal Education Center, Mr. Man Nath, president of Cambodian Border Protection Organization, and Mr. Ear Channa, deputy secretary-general of Student Movement for Democracy; Mr. Kim Sokha, president of Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR),Mr. Pha Ngountheang, deputy-president of CCHR, Mr. Rong Chhun, president of Cambodian Teacher Association, Mr. Mam Sonangdo, director of Beehive Radio. As a result, all the above human rights and democracy activists were amnestied, dropped charge and released from Prison due to his Royal majesty did these.

Dr. Heang Rithy, Minister, Secretary of State and senior officials of Ministry of Justice were discussing to find strategies to strengthen the justice system in Cambodia.
 

The meeting of CSLHRC to complaint against court officials to International Criminal Court(ICC). It was led by
Dr.Heang Rithy.

 

Excellency Joseph A. Mussomeli Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Cambodia participated in CNRO's radio program in providing of knowledge of democracy to Cambodian people.

 

Dr. Heang Rithy was interviewed by journalists relating to on human rights abuses in Cambodia.

Dr. Heang Rithy , president of CNRO had an audience with his majesty Prahbat Norodom Sihamony on February 2 nd , 2006 to request his intervention to the royal government, in order to drop charges and release all human rights and democracy activists who were complained against by government.

Mission:

  • Urging rights to have the access to justice for the poor and vulnerable victims,
  • Education and awareness raising on laws, human rights and democracy
  • Anti-corruption.

Programs:

  • Radio Broadcasting, its name: Demanding voice program to have the access to justice for innocent Cambodian people.
  • Education and Awareness Raising: Educating and Awareness Raising the public on laws, human rights and democracy principles through training sessions, public forums, seminar and Radio,
  • Monitoring, Investigating and Legal Aid Service: Receiving complaint from the poor and vulnerable victims, investigate, intervene and monitor human rights violation cases. Providing free of charge of legal aid services to victims of human right violation,
  • Advocacy: Lobbying and advocating with key government officials to respect for rule of law, human rights and democracy through letter, press release, conducting press conference and seminars and demanding for new laws for Cambodia .
  • Good Governance for Anti-corruption: educating, raising awareness on good governance for anti-corruption, researching and investigating corruption cases and disseminate the research findings publicly through press release and press conference and urge the governmental competent institutions and court of law for prosecution of the corrupted individuals or institutions.
